Walmart vs Visa: The 16 Walmart stores in Manitoba stopped accepting Visa cards on Monday, saying Visa’s fees to the store are too high. Walmart has responded with newspaper and billboard ads reminding local shoppers of the many other stores that still accept the card. Reporter Murray McNeill asked Walmart shoppers for their opinions. Fentanyl update: Police said on Monday two adults have been criminally charged after a critically ill baby was found Oct. 18 in a house that police suspect contained fentanyl. While the baby recovered in hospital, the adults face charges related to the well-being of the infant and for drug-related offences. Carol Sanders reports. READ MORE

Musical gear stolen: Winnipeg band Royal Canoe lost all its musical gear on Monday when its equipment trailer was stolen while the band toured in the Montreal area. The band is asking for help in tracking down the equipment, asking pawn shops and musicians to watch out. The band is scheduled to perform Wednesday in St. Catharines, Ont. READ MORE

On Oct. 25, 1933: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that German officials held a correspondent for the London Daily Telegraph as a suspected spy and refused Britain’s consul general permission to speak with him.
