Public health officials said they’ve identified two new cases of the coronavirus in Manitoba, bringing the total number to 297.

The province did not provide any other information on the new cases Tuesday other than to say they were men in their 40s from the Southern Health region.

Prior to Tuesday, the three most recent COVID cases in Manitoba were related to travel, including one involving a temporary foreign worker in the Southern Health region, part of a group of such workers who are now in self-isolation.

As a result of the two new positive tests, the number of active cases of the virus in the province climbed to 12. No Manitobans are in hospital due to COVID-19.

On Monday, an additional 406 laboratory tests for the virus were performed, bringing the total so far since February to 45,099.

Dr. Brent Roussin, the province’s chief public health officer, did not hold a media briefing Tuesday.
