Pandemic politics: Democratic voters in Wisconsin will head to the polls to pick their party’s presidential candidate today despite the pandemic. Wisconsin is the only state holding a nominating contest this month. Killed by coronavirus: The family of Wade Kidd, the second Manitoban to die of COVID-19, released a statement about his death to dispel “fear and uncertainty” amid the pandemic. “This disease can affect anyone, and we hope Wade’s death can help convince anyone who isn’t already staying home to do so if they can,” his family said. Body found in bay: The body of a member of the Kennedy family was found in Chesapeake Bay on Monday after a canoeing accident, while the search for her young son will continue. Maeve Kennedy Townsend McKean, 40, was the daughter of Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, who served two terms as Maryland’s lieutenant governor and is the eldest child of Robert F. Kennedy. READ MORE

On April 6, 1928: The Manitoba Free Press reported that an elderly woman and her brother were arrested in Fourke, Ark., and charged with poisoning nearly everyone in the community, by putting arsenic in the community well that supplied the nearby sawmill camp. In northern Manitoba, the test flight of Commander Richard Byrd’s monoplane, a “giant aircraft” carrying 14 persons, was deemed a success; the aircraft was intended to aid in polar exploration. In Indiana, an 18-year-old athlete at a track meet was hit, possibly fatally, in the head with a 12-pound shot.
