EDMONTON — Left-winger Dylan Guenther scored three goals to power the Edmonton Oil Kings to a 10-1 triumph over the Winnipeg Ice in Western Hockey League action in front of 11,212 fans at Rogers Place Tuesday afternoon.

Guenther, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 WHL bantam draft, also added an assist as the Oil Kings swept the four-game season series between the teams while outscoring Winnipeg 26-2.

Jake Neighbours, Logan Dowhaniuk, Sam Stewart, Josh Williams, Scott Atkinson, Vladimir Alistrov and Carter Souch also scored for the hosts.

The nine-goal margin was the worst drubbing of the season for the Ice, which was playing without the services of captain Peyton Krebs. Krebs, who has 10 goals and 51 points in 34 games, is considered week to week with a lower-body injury.

James Form had his third goal of the season for Winnipeg, which dropped to 34-22-1-0 and remains four points behind the first-place Prince Albert Raiders in the East Division.

The Oil Kings lead the Central with a 40-10-6-3 record.

Ice goaltender Liam Hughes stopped 13 of 17 shots he faced but was replaced for the start of the second period by rookie Gage Alexander, who allowed six goals on 24 shots during the final 40 minutes.

Oil Kings rookie netminder Sebastian Cossa, who is 4-0 against Winnipeg with two shutouts, finished with 17 saves.

Next up for the Ice is a Thursday matinee in Calgary against the Hitmen. Winnipeg completes the three-game Alberta road swing in Red Deer Friday night.
