Taking a page from the City of Toronto, Winnipeg is counting each and every pothole it’s patching over this season.
Coun. Marty Morantz, chairman of the public works committee, told council Wednesday that as of four days ago, Winnipeg’s street crews had filled 66,842 potholes this season.
Morantz said that since May 12, crews had filled 5,270 potholes.
Morantz (Charleswood-Tuxedo-Whyte Ridge) said he’s been posting the updates on his Twitter account, adding he was copying a similar approach taken by a Toronto alderman.
“Winnipeggers will be assured to know we’ve filled a lot of potholes, and we’ll continue to do that throughout the year,” Morantz said.
