Then, he filled the survey out a second time and submitted it again. And again. The fact the survey can be done by the same individual over and over again means it’s useless for surveying the opinions of Manitobans and creating public policy, say critics. READ MORE

Accused of killing wife: The mental state of a man who admitted he killed his wife is the key issue in a Winnipeg homicide case. The woman was found dead in the bathtub of the couple’s home on Assiniboine Avenue on Jan. 23, 2012. In a recording of a 911 call played in court on Tuesday, the man said he killed his wife with a knife. Katie May reports. READ MORE

Bizarre animal mutilation: The discovery of mutilated carcasses of a goat and miniature horse near Brandon have sparked an RCMP investigation into animal cruelty. The goat was found with its back legs bound and its ears removed in a ditch 15 kilometres south of Brandon. The miniature horse was found in a separate ditch, also missing its ears. READ MORE

On March 29, 1973: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that in the United States, the National Farmers Organization had told its members to withold hogs, cattle and lambs from the market because of a record drop in hog prices and a fall in cattle prices. In Ottawa, a bill to raise old-age pensions was successfully pushed through in time to take effect on cheques being sent out in April.
