Good morning, folks.
Mike McIntyre and I usually get together around lunchtime on Wednesdays to record our Jetcetera podcast.
Of late, we’ve convened in my office at 1355 Mountain Ave. — that’s where the Free Press building is, in case you didn’t know — and put together 42 minutes or so of priceless blah blah blah.

For those of you who wait with bated breath for me to send you the link to this gab session, this week I have something completely different for you — sort of.
Yes, you will still get to hear from Mike and me — but on this particular Wednesday, we have added some expertise to the panel, as Sport Manitoba CEO and President Janet McMahon and Winnipeg Blue Bombers CEO and President Wade Miller joined us for a virtual town hall called “Reopening MB: Sports and COVID-19.”
The 60-minute event, which some of you watched live, is the third instalment in a Free Press town hall series that looks to answer questions about future plans in various sectors as we move slowly toward reopening the province. McMahon and Miller took questions — some of them submitted by you — on how the pandemic has affected the world of professional and amateur sport, and what the future holds for fans and athletes.
I appreciated — and I’m sure you will, too — the candor and insight both our guests brought to the dicussion.
In case you missed the first two town halls: columnist Dan Lett chatted with professor Arthur Schafer on vaccine ethics and arts reporters Eva Wasney and Ben Sigurdson focused on the recovery of the local food and drink industry with Shaun Jeffrey, executive director of Manitoba Restaurant and Foodservices Association, Melanie Foucault, co-owner of Preservation Hall Eatery and Wine Bar, and John Heim, president of Torque Brewing.
The final episode in the series will be next Wednesday when pandemic zeitgeist watcher Jen Zoratti has a panel of special guests to discuss the revival of the arts and culture sector — and, you can register for that event here.
Mike and I will be back next week with Episiode 77 of Jetcetera, but if you need a fix before then and have missed any of the previous 76, you can listen to them all here.
Have a great rest of the week, folks.
And as always, you can reach me by replying to this mailing or by sending me an email here.
