A COVID-19 outbreak driven by the delta variant has been declared at a Brandon school.
One class at Christian Heritage School has been moved to remote learning until Oct. 1 due to the outbreak, according to Manitoba Public Health.
Close contacts have been notified and are self-isolating, the province said Thursday. According to its COVID-19 online dashboard, two cases had been connected to the school, which has an enrolment of 154 students as of Sept. 22.
Manitoba reported a total of 67 new COVID-19 infections Thursday, including 28 in the Southern Health region, 14 in Winnipeg, 12 in Prairie Mountain, five in the Northern Health region and eight in Interlake-Eastern.
Of the 67 cases, 52 patients were not fully vaccinated.
The province also provided additional information about two Manitobans who died from COVID-19 earlier in the week: a Winnipeg woman in her 80s, infected with an unspecified variant, and a man in his 60s from Southern Health, also infected with an unspecified variant.
A total of 1,207 Manitobans have died from the disease caused by the coronavirus since the pandemic began.
As of Thursday, the five-day test positivity rate across the province was 2.3 per cent, and one per cent in Winnipeg.
Sixty-eight people were being treated in hospital for COVID-19, including 14 in intensive care.
The province said between Sept. 13 and 19, a total of 41 warnings and 22 tickets were issued to people and businesses under COVID-19 prevention orders, including:
• one $1,296 ticket to an individual;
• 11 $298 tickets for failure to wear a mask in indoor public places;
• 10 $5,000 tickets to businesses.
As of Sept. 6, the province collected $241,483 related to COVID-19 offences under the Public Health Act, Emergency Measures Act, and federal Quarantine Act.
