A rally against the federal government’s proposed “anti-terrorism” bill is scheduled for later today in Osborne Village.
Winnipeggers Against Bill C-51 will be gathering at the corner of River Avenue and Osborne Street at 4:30 p.m. this afternoon.
The rally comes on the heels of a similar event held at City Hall just over a couple weeks ago. On Mar. 14, hundreds of people gathered downtown to voice their opinion over the controversial bill.
Critics argue civil liberties and privacy rights will be compromised under the bill, insisting the proposed legislation will give police and Canada’s spy agency much broader powers with little oversight or regulation.
Today’s rally is expected to wrap up at around 6:30 p.m.
