Manitoba has recorded its first human case of West Nile virus this year.
A man in his 30s from Winnipeg is believed to have contracted the disease in late July or early August. He was hospitalized and later released, said Dr. Susan Roberecki, medical lead for environmental health with Manitoba Health.
Provincial officials have also detected a second case of West Nile, but they believe that person — a man in his 60s from western Manitoba — did not contract it this year.
