Winnipeggers like their streets neat and clean.

And they’ve let the city’s 311 service know about it — lodging thousands of complaints about garbage, vegetation and weed problems.

Between Jan. 1, 2013 and July 17 of this year, 32,000 complaints were made to 311 and city officials, according to City of Winnipeg data on bylaw-related complaints released to the Free Press.

William Whyte was the neighbourhood that saw the most complaints, with 3,713. However, that number — more than double St. John’s — is partly the result of a neighbourhood improvement program where volunteers actively document concerns related to city bylaws. The bulk of complaints from William Whyte were about garbage dumping.

West Broadway took the unfortunate prize for having the most complaints about bedbugs. The area, which is roughly bordered by Portage and Cornish Avenues and Maryland and Colony Streets, had 55 bedbug-related complaints. Bedbugs seem to be drawn to core-area neighbourhoods, with a high number of complaints coming from William Whyte, Spence and Daniel McIntyre.

Residents of Broadway-Assiniboine called in the most noise complaints. However, the area bordered by Broadway Avenue to the north, the Assiniboine River to the south and between Main and Kennedy Streets, is not known for loud bars. McMillan, which consists of homes north of Corydon Avenue and is near the more raucous Osborne Village, was second for noise complaints.

The residents of Chalmers would like you to stoop and scoop. The neighbourhood recorded the most complaints for dog feces. In total, Winnipeggers lodged 542 complaints for uncollected poop.
