Winnipeg may get a break from smoky skies today as south winds gust through southern Manitoba.
The break will only last the day, and Environment Canada is not lifting the special air quality statement warning Winnipeggers of reduced air quality and visibility.
Behind all that smoke, today will be hot, with a high of 29 C and a high UV index. It will be mostly cloudy, with south wind gusting to 30 km/h.
As of 8 a.m., humidity sat at 84 per cent.
Later in the day there is a 30 per cent risk of showers with risk of severe thunderstorms.
Tonight, Winnipeggers can expect showers or thunderstorms with risk of severe thunderstorms, with wind lightening up after midnight and a low of 17 C.
