Four more teens arrested, charged in aftermath of wild East St. Paul party

RCMP have rounded up four more suspects in the aftermath of an out-of-control house party in East St. Paul last month that culminated in police officers being verbally assaulted and serious damage to their vehicles.

Over the past week, RCMP arrested four youths — two girls from Winnipeg aged 15 and 16, a 16-year-old boy from East St. Paul and a 17-year-old boy from Winnipeg — and charged them with mischief. All have been released and are scheduled to appear in court March 7.

Eight teens have now been arrested and charged following the Oct. 29 mayhem, when police were called to break up the party. Several hundred people were on the Saddleridge Lane property while the owner was out of the province that night.

The home, which had been sold and ownership was to be transferred to the new owner three days later, was extensively damaged.

None of the police officers who were swarmed when they arrived were hurt, but one police cruiser’s windshield was kicked in, and a second was badly damaged on it’s roof and hood by people jumping on it.

Visible-minority officers were subjected to racist remarks and fireworks were launched at them. Officers stopped two boys from sexually assaulting an intoxicated girl who was being dragged into a bush, RCMP said.

Police are publicly circulating a photo of a boy after a similar, successful, attempt to locate a girl last week.

Partygoers have been identified based on video captured from police vehicles and cellphone videos widely shared on social media. The investigation continues, RCMP said.
