Cadillac-Fairview Polo Park has issued an apology after a video seeming to portray the arrest of its mall Santa circulated online.
In the video, two men appearing to be part of the mall’s security team are seen placing Santa in cuffs.
It was posted to Instagram Wednesday afternoon, amassing hundreds of comments and likes within an hour.
In an email statement to the Free Press, Polo Park apologized, calling the incident “misguided and unfortunate.”
“To be clear, Santa has not been removed from the property, and there has been no wrongdoing. Any depiction of an arrest was done in jest by the centre’s staff and was an error in judgment,” said a Polo Park spokesperson.
