The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have traded wide receiver Cory Watson to their arch rivals from Saskatchewan.

The Bombers also sent the 26th pick in this year’s CFL draft to the Roughriders in exchange for the 15th pick, Canadian wide receiver Kris Bastien and the rights to a player on Saskatchewan’s negotiation list, the club announced this morning.

“We are always looking to continue to grow our Canadian talent base, and being able to move up 11 spots early on in the CFL draft was significant for us,” said Blue Bombers general manager Kyle Walters, in a statement.

The Bombers now have three selections in the first 15 picks overall in this year’s CFL Draft.

Bastien, 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, spent last season on Saskatchewan’s practice roster. He recorded 37 receptions for 592 yards and six touchdowns in eight games with Concordia during the 2013 university season.

“Kristopher is a big young man who we feel has great promise in our league,” said Walters.

Watson originally joined the Bombers in 2010. He played 67 games during his time with Winnipeg, and totalled 178 receptions, 2217 yards, and six touchdowns.
