University of Manitoba quarterback Theo Deezar tossed three touchdown passes and the Bisons racked up 460 yards on offence in a 50-7 thrashing of the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds in pre-season football action Friday night.

The game was held in Langford, B.C., and was the first-ever Canadian Interuniversity Sport football contest ever played on Vancouver Island.

Deezar hooked up with receivers Jessie Walker, Shai Ross and Cam Fox for majors, while Trysten Dyce snared a TD pass from Des Catellier.

Marcel Arruda-Welch picked off a pass and returned it 34 yards for a touchdown to highlight a great night for the Bisons defence.

The victory was a small measure of revenge for the Bisons, who were ousted from the Canada West playoffs by UBC last November.

The T-birds went on to win a national championship.

U of M kicks off its eight-game, regular-season schedule at home against the Calgary Dinos on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Investors Group Field. Game time is 7 p.m.
