A man who was already on probation has been charged with attempted murder and possession of methamphetamine in connection with an assault in the 600 block of Main Street on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency responders took a 57-year-old man to hospital after he was attacked at about 3:30 p.m. in the back alley. The victim is in critical but stable condition.

A short time later, police arrested a suspect in the area of Main Street and Higgins Avenue.

Aaron Bryan Houle, 33, is also charged with robbery and failing to comply with a probation and is being held in custody.
