A 37-year-old man is in critical condition with head trauma after being seriously assaulted Monday night in the first 100 block of Martha Street.
Winnipeg police said cadets and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service personnel happened to be in the area when bystanders called them to help a man who had been attacked.
A suspect in the incident was identified by witnesses and found in the area by cadets.
Sydney Eric Norman Fleury, 43, was charged with aggravated assault and is being held in custody.
