A man shot by police officers after a chase in July has now been charged with fleeing from police as well as an earlier home invasion.
Winnipeg police spokesman Const. Rob Carver said Wednesday that the suspect was charged after his release from hospital and transfer to the Winnipeg Remand Centre, where he is being held.
Carver said a man pointed what was believed to be a firearm at residents in the 200 block of La Verendrye Street during a midday robbery July 24.
No one was injured.
Police located a suspect in the 400 block of Archibald Street and shot him after he got out of a vehicle.
Carver said he wasn’t able to provide details about the incident because it is currently under investigation by the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba.
He said the man is also a suspect in a June 30 home invasion in the 700 block of Beach Avenue.
Several suspects forced their way into a residence and assaulted the people inside. A man in his 40s was hurt, but the upper-body injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Peter Wilfred Flett, 26, has been charged with numerous offences, including flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of robbery while using a firearm.
