A Charleswood man who believed he was talking online with an underage child instead of a police officer has been charged with making child pornography.

The man was arrested Monday after police received information from British Columbia’s Integrated Child Exploitation Unit, Winnipeg police spokesman Const. Rob Carver said Wednesday.

The suspect was allegedly having online conversations with an undercover police officer he thought was a child, and emailed child-porn images to the officer, Carver said.

“The people who are looking for underage children, the message is law enforcement is out there not just in Canada, but around the world,” he said.

“We try to catch people before they turn a vulnerable child into a victim.”

Jeffrey Douglas McBride, 53, has been charged with making child pornography, possessing child pornography and distributing child porn.
