Police are on the lookout for a Winnipeg man wanted in connection with a street brawl downtown after the Canada Day festivities.
The Winnipeg Police Service is asking the public for assistance in locating Jeremy Andrew Cabalu, 27. A warrant for his arrest has been issued for aggravated assault, police said in a press release. The arrest warrant was issued in connection with a large fight that broke out just after midnight on July 2 at the intersection of Smith Street and St. Mary Avenue.
When police arrived, they found three people suffering from stab wounds. Two men — a 27-year-old and a 26-year-old — were both treated for stab wounds and released from hospital. A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital in critical condition. He’s since been released from hospital, police said. Two other men were also were treated for stab wounds and released.
An investigation by the major crimes unit led to a number of arrests, including six men and a woman.
Cabalu is described as Asian, 5-foot-5 in height, about 114 pounds with a thin build. He has black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
