Winnipeg has its second homicide of 2017 as an adult male was killed and found Thursday night on the 600-block of Sherbrook Street.

Police said officers responding to a call to check the well-being of someone at about 11:50 p.m. on Thursday found a man dead inside the West End home.

Const. Rob Carver said at a press conference Friday morning there was little else to announce publicly as the investigation is in its early stages.

“The investigation is being undertaken by members of the homicide unit and we are asking anyone who may have information regarding this to contact investigators,” he said.

Carver said officers are also looking into the identity of the person who made the check well-being call.

“It’s not clear how this call came in,” Carver said.
