Eleven more migrants crossed the international border to Emerson this weekend, bringing the total to more than 130 since the beginning of the year.

Emerson-Franklin Reeve Greg Janzen said Sunday at least four came on Friday night and another seven on Saturday night.

RCMP said they would announce the official numbers Monday.

Janzen said he’s still waiting to hear about more help from other levels of government.

“We’re just in the discussion stage now about what can be done or what should be done,” he said.

“Hopefully we’ll have something by the end of next week.”

The migrants have been crossing into Manitoba from either side of the Red River through North Dakota or Minnesota since the beginning of the year, but in recent weeks their numbers have grown as the Trump administration talks about increasing the deportation of people living in the country illegally.
