Winnipeg police are investigating a stabbing that put one male in hospital in serious condition.
The stabbing occured Wednesday near Elmwood High School, in the 500-block of Chalmers Avenue.
Residents in the area say a male Elmwood student was stabbed by another student. They said the injured student ran to the school after the incident.
“I was working in the garage but I didn’t hear anything until they (police) came up and asked. I saw all the cops down here. We thought the kid got stabbed at the school but he got stabbed over here,” said Adrien Bourgeois, who lives across the street from the house the police appeared to be guarding.
Bourgeois said the police told him the injured male “ran back to the school and reported it.”
The victim was taken by ambulance to hospital around 4 p.m.
Police had at least three males in custody who were taken from the scene in marked police cars but it wasn’t known if they were witnesses or suspects.
