Health Minister Cameron Friesen has introduced a bill to simplify the administration of Manitoba’s health-care system and improve accountability.

Accord announcement: Manitoba Health Minister Cameron Friesen and federal cabinet minister Jim Carr will announce a “bilateral agreement” at a news conference at the legislature this morning. Federal Health Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor recently criticized the provincial government for taking more than seven months to sign the health accord.

On April 16, 1917: The Manitoba Free Press reported that German guns were still trained on Vimy Ridge following its capture by Canadian troops. British and French troops advanced to within a few hundred yards of St. Quentin. In Petrograd, Russia, the pacifist element of the Workmen’s and Soldiers’ Council was in the minority, as the majority were in favour of continuing in the war against the Central Powers, in the wake of the Russian Revolution.
