On April 17, 1937: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that a new type of raft was being tested by Imperial Airways that would allow passengers to board the company’s “flying boat” aircraft. France and England reaffirmed their reciprocal military commitments under the Locarno treaty. In Winnipeg, medical testimony was heard in an inquiry into the death of a five-year-old girl; it remained unclear what the cause of death was but evidence showed violent force had broken her pelvis.
