Case in jury’s hands: Court of Queen’s Bench Chief Justice Glenn Joyal will give his instructions to the jury today in the second-degree murder trial of Raymond Cormier. The 11 jurors will then be sequestered for deliberations. Cormier is accused of killing Tina Fontaine, 15, and dumping her body in the Red River. Katie May reports. READ MORE

On Feb. 21, 1944: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that the U.S. Air Force hammered northwest Germany just hours after the R.A.F. and the R.C.A.F. heavily bombed the country’s southwest border. The United States’ Pacific fleet inflicted heavy losses on Japanese planes and ships.
