The driver of a stolen car that collided head-on with a Winnipeg Transit bus has died.
Winnipeg police said on Tuesday that the man, in his twenties, who has been in hospital since the collision on Jan. 5, at 1:30 a.m., “has succumbed to his injuries.”
Police didn’t say when he died or release any further details.
Police said a bus was travelling northbound on Osborne Street on Jan. 5 when a southbound subcompact car suddenly veered in front of the bus.
The driver was rushed to hospital in critical condition while the transit operator was treated and released.
Police said at the time the car had been stolen a short time before from a location on Pembina Highway.
