Several reported thefts from downtown mailboxes have police on the hunt for a suspect.

Police are investigating nearly a dozen reports of a man prying open communal mailboxes and stealing mail from within, causing an estimated $11,000 worth of damage in the process.

The break-ins have been reported at various addresses and apartment buildings, including in the 400 block of Maryland Street, the first 100 block of Cornish Avenue, the 100 block of Young Street, the 100 block of Balmoral Street, 300-400 blocks of Kennedy Street, first 100 block of Carlton Street, 100 block of Donald Street, 100 block of Smith Street, 200 block of Portage Avenue and the 300 block of Broadway.
