A woman in her 50s from the Southern Health region has been diagnosed with West Nile virus.

It’s the first human case of the disease this season in Manitoba.

She is believed to have been exposed in the last week of July.

She did not experience neurological symptoms and was not hospitalized, the province said in a bulletin Friday morning.

The government said the current risk for human exposure is estimated to be low.
