A Winnipeg lab employee is in self-isolation as a precaution after coming into contact with chickens who were being tested to see if they could contract COVID-19.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s National Centre for Foreign Animal Disease was conducting the study by exposing chickens to the virus when the employee entered the area without proper protective equipment on March 28.
