Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP are searching for a 33-year-old man from Sandy Bay First Nation who may be suffering from life-threatening injuries after a lengthy pursuit Thursday.

In a release Friday, RCMP say they responded to a report of an impaired driver in Ebb and Flow First Nation around 11:15 a.m. Thursday.

RCMP say they conducted a traffic stop, but the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers learned the vehicle had been reported stolen, and found a sawed-off shotgun inside of it.

The suspect was later located in the bush in deep snow by officers on a snowmobile. When trying to arrest the man, he escaped and fled the scene on the officers’ snowmobile.

The snowmobile later became stuck and the suspect began walking towards the road, where RCMP arrested him. At that time, RCMP say he was not wearing shoes and was suffering from extreme frostbite.

He was taken to hospital but RCMP say they were notified he left with the assistance of an unknown person early Friday.

Blake Beaulieu is facing various charges including theft of a motor vehicle, flight from peace officer and possession of a firearm.

Anyone with information on Beaulieu’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP at 204-447-3082, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or submit a secure tip online at manitobacrimestoppers.com.
