Hey there, time traveller!

It’s been nearly a week and 21-year-old Christine Wood is still missing.

Wood was last seen in the downtown area on Aug. 20. Her mother, Melinda Wood, is asking anyone with information to come forward.

The Wood family is from Oxford House and arrived in Winnipeg last week for a medical appointment. Wood said Christine left for Winnipeg two days before she did. Wood’s husband joined her in Winnipeg two days after she arrived. The family is staying at a hotel near the airport and intended to head home on Sunday.

She said she didn’t have a chance to ask Christine where she was going the night she disappeared.

Wood said she’s been searching all over the city for her daughter. “I don’t have anything to do but I’m just going to search all day today until I find her,” said Wood. “I’m not going to stop searching.”

Wood said they’ve reached out to Christine’s friends but haven’t heard anything in reply. “It’s weird that nobody is responding or coming forward to us,” she said.

She added it’s unlike Christine to go this long without keeping in touch. “She’ll usually call or text me — this is way too long. I’m really worried about her,” she said. “Any mother would worry, right? Regardless of age. I’m just worried about her; I need to find her.”

Members of the Bear Clan Patrol were called in to help with the search on Aug. 21, according to James Favel, executive director of the patrol.

Christine Wood is aboriginal, 5-6, with an average build and shoulder-length dark brown hair. She was last seen wearing a green top with a red striped Adidas jacket over top, denim shorts and carrying a white purse.

“We need help. We need help finding our daughter,” she said. “If someone can please come forward, let us know she’s okay or who she’s with.”

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.
