RCMP said the 29-year-old victim was the driver and lone occupant of a car that collided with a pickup truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision occurred just before 5 a.m. on Hwy. 207 outside of Lorette in the RM of Tache.

The three people in the pickup truck, all from Winnipeg including the driver, received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

A family member who contacted the Free Press identified the victim as Shea Lynne Fright, who was originally from the Ste. Anne area. Online tributes have been pouring in for the woman since friends posted the tragic news on Facebook.

“Heaven got another angel. (Shea) was my best friend in high school and her beautiful bright personality is sadly no longer with us,” Rachel Marsch wrote.

“What sad horrible news. My thoughts are with her family and friends,” posted Ashley Farr. “Class of 2005 and all of those who knew this beautiful funny sarcastic girl. Thinking of you all today.”

Simard’s 19-year-old sister, Valerie, died in June 2014 following a crash on Provincial Road 206, just south of Provincial Road 207 in the RM of Tache. RCMP said speed and alcohol were factors after her vehicle left the roadway and flipped into the ditch, which was filled with water.
