A matter of record: A spokesman for the Manitoba NDP’s new leader says Wab Kinew was not required to submit letters of reference or attend any hearings in applying for a criminal pardon he was granted in 2016, after he was elected as an MLA. “Wab went through all the normal application procedures,” he says of Kinew. On Sept. 21, 1951: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that Winnipeggers looked forward to a visit from Princess Elizabeth, but the royal visit from the princess as well as the Duke of Edinburgh was delayed by the prospect of the king undergoing lung surgery; Winnipeg city council approved $5,000 to cover the costs of the visit.
