One killed, three injured in head-on Highway 50 crash

One driver is dead and the other was in critical condition Monday after a head-on crash between Langruth and Sandy Bay First Nation on Saturday night.

RCMP said a southbound car crossed into the northbound lane and struck an oncoming vehicle on Highway 50 at Road 99 North in the Rural Municipality of Westlake-Gladstone at about 9:30 p.m.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 35-year-old Sandy Bay First Nation woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, a 36-year-old Langruth man, was seriously injured and transported to hospital.

The 19-year-old driver of the southbound car, a man from The Pas, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Winnipeg hospital. A two-year-old boy in a car seat suffered minor injuries and has been released from hospital, RCMP said in a news release.
