An 86-year-old man apparently died from his injuries — which did not initially appear to be life-threatening — after a two-vehicle crash in Selkirk.

RCMP said Tuesday that a vehicle pulled out of a parking lot onto Main Street, colliding with a northbound vehicle, at about 2 p.m. on March 18.

The front-seat passenger of the vehicle exiting the parking lot was transported to a Winnipeg hospital. The 82-year-old woman driving the vehicle, her 54-year-old male rear passenger and the driver and lone occupant of the northbound vehicle — a 17-year-old boy from the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews — were checked out by emergency crews and didn’t require further treatment.

Selkirk RCMP were told Thursday that the 86-year-old Whitemouth man had died. An autopsy has yet to be completed but “indications are that the male died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision,” RCMP said in a news release.

RCMP continue to investigate the collision.
