On Feb. 20, 1933: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that the Winnipeg School Division would reduce teachers’ pay by 30 per cent. Harold G. Hutchings, a former Winnipegger, was wanted for his role in a bank failure in Siloam Springs, Ark.; Hutchings surrendered himself to authorities in Chicago. A so-called “psychic force” appeared to whirl a table around at a seance held in Winnipeg; Dr. T. Glen Hamilton, a psychic researcher, wrote about the event for the newspaper.
