A man runs from an area near the site of an explosion Tuesday in Austin, Tex.

Bombing suspect dead: A suspect in a series of bombings in Austin, Tex., blew himself up as a SWAT team approached his vehicle early today. Police identified him as a 24-year-old man. Two people were killed and four were seriously wounded in the string of bombings. READ MORE

No power: About 16,400 customers are without power in the Transcona and St. Boniface areas this morning. Manitoba Hydro says it’s working to restore service and determine what caused the outage, adding it may have stemmed from a pole fire on Dugald Road. READ MORE

True blue fan: This year will mark Don Ramage’s 70th as a Blue Bombers season-ticket holder. In a kind of informal kickoff to CFL Week in Winnipeg, the 92-year-old spent an hour Tuesday with the Grey Cup at his seniors home. Jeff Hamilton reports.

Tight restrictions on toking: Manitobans will be restricted to smoking marijuana on private property under a bill introduced in the legislature Tuesday. “This is about a common interest, a common interest in safety and a common interest in health,” Health Minister Kelvin Goertzen told reporters. #MisterRogers50: 2018 marked the 50th anniversary of the U.S. national debut of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” the children’s television program created by the late Fred Rogers. On March 21, 1946: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that the Elmwood Maple Leafs swept Portage la Prairie Terriers out of the Manitoba Junior Hockey finals.
