A man reported to be in his 20s was shot in the lower body inside a downtown Winnipeg apartment building early Thursday, police said.
Officers applied a tourniquet when they arrived, and the man was taken to hospital in critical condition, the Winnipeg Police Service said.
He was later upgraded to stable condition.
A woman, who had minor injuries, was also taken to hospital.
Police were still on scene at the Holiday Towers apartment building on the 100 block of Hargrave Street into the late morning. The call came in at 2:15 a.m.
Police could not confirm whether the shooting took place in an apartment suite, but did say the incident happened inside the building.
