The province’s police watchdog is investigating after a man was injured while being arrested Tuesday.

Winnipeg police were sent to the 1000 block of Andrews Street regarding a high-priority domestic incident at about 3:12 p.m.

Officers tried to get into a suite but couldn’t. The door was eventually opened, and officers struggled with a man while trying to restrain him.

Paramedics were called, and the man was taken to Health Sciences Centre.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba is asking witnesses or anyone with video of the incident to call the IIU at 1-844-667-6060.
