Winnipeg Sea Bears head coach Mike Taylor and his entire coaching staff are returning for the 2024 Canadian Elite Basketball League season.

Lakehead University’s Ryan Thomson also returns as assistant coach and assistant general manager. He has guided the Thunder Bay, Ont.,-based Thunderwolves program for six years.

Meanwhile, the Sea Bears’ analytics coach, William Gatchalian, remains in that role. Gatchalian spends the winter season as an assistant coach with the Brock Badgers men’s team.

In addition, U of W assistant coach Josh Reddy will oversee the CEBL club’s operations and video coordination, while Tevin Juwan Brown returns to Winnipeg to lead the team’s player development program. Brown has been the lead video co-ordinator and player development coach with the Texas Legends of the NBA G League since 2022.

“I absolutely love our coaching staff and am both thankful and excited to have everyone back on board for Sea Bears’ Season 2,” said Taylor, in a release. “We came together quickly last year and worked together extremely well. We are now focused to push our team to the next level.”

The Sea Bears open training camp May 13 before opening the CEBL season in Saskatchewan against the Rattlers May 22.

The team’s home-opener is slated for May 24 at Canada Life Centre against the Scarborough Shooting Stars.
