Winnipeg police are investigating the city’s latest homicide.

Bill Brian Duck, 28, was hit with a shotgun blast on the 600 block of Flora Avenue at about 8:45 p.m Friday.

He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries. Duck, a member of God’s Lake Narrows First Nation, had recently been living in Winnipeg.

Duck’s death is Winnipeg’s 13th slaying of 2024, though police include the 2023 deaths of two infants in their internal 2024 homicide statistics because charges were laid this year.

The Winnipeg Police Service is asking witnesses or anyone with video of the incident to contact the homicide unit at 204-986-6508, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 204-786-8477 (TIPS) or winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
