The Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba said it is handing out $118 million in surplus funds to employers whose premiums fund the system.

This month, eligible employers will receive a credit equivalent to 50 per cent of their 2023 premium.

It is the fifth time in six years surplus funds have been distributed to employers, the WCB said.

The Manitoba Federation of Labour said the surplus would be better spent on measures to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, and filling staff vacancies to reduce claim-processing delays.
