One person was taken to hospital in unstable condition after a house fire Thursday in the St. John’s neighbourhood.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews rushed to a two-storey house on the 300 block of Anderson Avenue shortly before 7 a.m. and saw smoke billowing from the building.

Crews fought the fire from inside the house, and it was deemed under control at 7:09 a.m.

Two people were assessed by paramedics at the scene.

A preliminary investigation suggests the blaze was accidental, caused by a lithium-ion vape pen battery overheating.
