Thompson RCMP are searching for a second “dangerous” suspect in an assault on a man in a home in the northern city.

The victim, 34, was “seriously assaulted” at a home early on April 25, before a Good Samaritan came across him and took him to hospital for treatment.

Mounties arrested Lawrence Moose, 28, of South Indian Lake on Thursday and charged him with aggravated assault for the April 25 incident and assaulting a peace officer regarding his arrest in Thompson.

RCMP identified Thompson man Kenneth Paynter, 36, as a second suspect. He’s wanted on an aggravated assault warrant. Mounties said he’s 5-11 in height, 256 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes. His neck is covered in tattoos.

RCMP said Paynter is dangerous and shouldn’t be approached. Mounties ask anyone with information on the assault or Paynter’s whereabouts to call the Thompson detachment at 204-677-6909 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
