Former premier Heather Stefanson announced in the legislature Thursday that she is resigning her Tuxedo seat.

The longtime Progressive Conservative MLA, who held several cabinet positions while in government, was joined in the legislative building by her family, who sat in the gallery.

She said she wished the NDP government well, and Premier Wab Kinew thanked Stefanson for her service and wished her well.

Interim PC leader Wayne Ewasko thanked Stefanson and said that her being Manitoba’s first woman premier was “a milestone.”
