Crews extinguished a wildland fire in north Transcona on Thursday.

Firefighters were sent to the area of the Transcona Bioreserve’s loop trail at about 1 p.m. and found a grass and brush fire covering an area about the size of a football field.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service used a drone to find hot spots and special equipment to fight the fire, which was declared under control an hour later.
