City police lay charges in 2022 homicide

City police have arrested and charged a man for a 2022 slaying.

Police found Delany Nora Desmarais, 23, suffering from gunshot wounds to her upper body on Nov. 12, 2022. She died in hospital.

Police said Clinton Desmond Bignell, 49, was identified as a suspect in March, and investigators obtained an arrest warrant. Officers spotted Bignell near Furby Street and Cumberland Avenue on Wednesday and arrested him.

Bignell is charged with manslaughter and several firearms charges, including careless use of a firearm and unauthorized possession.
