Jets coach Bowness calls it a career

Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness is retiring after a decades-long career in the NHL.

He coached for 38 years, including the last two in Winnipeg. His 2,726 games as an NHL coach are the most by anyone in league history.

Bowness is named a finalist for the 2023-24 Jack Adams Award, the league’s coach-of-the year award.

He and Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff will meet with reporters at 2 p.m. today at the downtown arena.
